Indian Highway, A Must Go Exhibition

Do you think you know India? Then go to the Serpentine Gallery, and reconsider your knowledge... With the rapid economic, social and cultural developments in India, highways should be a symbol of this development...
Indian Highway features a special project curated by Raqs Media Collective which is really touchy. It's hard to stop the tears from my eyes while watching the work of Amar Kanwar.

Just pop in the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens and enrich your soul..
For details click here.
The exhibition continues until 22 February 2009 @ Serpentine Gallery, Kensington Gardens - Hyde Park

White Lies Gig @ HMV

The gig of White Lies (was known as Fear of Flying) took place today at HMV, Oxford Street. I think that was time for me to listen to a new rock bank... And here they are!

McVeigh the singer has a great voice

The lyrics of their song Unfinished Business will give you the idea of how they sound :)

JUST GIVE ME A SECOND, DARLING,
TO CLEAR MY HEAD.
JUST PUT DOWN THOSE SCISSORS, BABY,
ON THIS SINGLE BED.
THE SAND IN THE HOURGLASS IS RUNNING LOW.
I CAME THROUGH THUNDER THE COLD WIND,
THE RAIN AND THE SNOW.
TO FIND YOU AWAKE,
BY YOUR WINDOWSILL;
A SIGHT FOR SOAR EYES AND WITH A VIEW TO KILL...

I BROKE DOWN IN HORROR AT YOU STANDING THERE.
THE GLOW FROM THE MOON SHONE
THROUGH CRACKS IN YOUR HAIR.
I SHOUTED WITH PASSION; "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH".
BUT FEELING MY SKIN IT WAS COLD TO THE TOUCH.
YOU WHISPERED "WHERE ARE YOU?".
I QUESTIONED YOUR DOUBT.
BUT SOON REALISED,
YOU'RE TALKING TO GOD NOW.

YOU'VE GOT BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS.
AND I KNOW IT'S MINE.
I JUST NEED MORE TIME.
SO GET OFF YOUR LOW AND LETS DANCE LIKE WE USED TO.
BUT THERE'S A LIGHT IN THE DISTANCE,
WAITING FOR ME.
I WILL WAIT FOR YOU.
SO GET OFF YOUR LOW AND LETS KISS LIKE WE USED TO.

I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR BUT SOMETHING WAS WRONG.
I SAW YOU BEHIND, BUT MY REFLECTION WAS GONE.
THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE FIREPLACE,
AS WHITE AS THE SNOW.
A VOICE BECKONED GENTLY;
"NOW IT'S TIME TO GO".
A REQUIEM PLAYED AS YOU BEGGED FOR FORGIVNESS.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" I SCREAMED,
"I'VE GOT UNFINISHED BUSINESS!".

Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms

I newer know what to feel about Andy Warhol. Therefore I decided to face my feelings about him and pop out to his exhibition. All story was there, his childhood and his family, how he was shot, how was the life in 'factory', how they draw pictures, how he and Edie Sedgewick spent their time, his TV shows, and his famous Marilyn Monroe works, and his big statements of course... The exhibition is open till 18 January 2009 at Hayword Gallery, Southbank. Admission: 10 pounds.
Now I have more complicated feelings about him.

East London Design Show

This year ELDS had an international participation. Designers from Mexico to Moscow, exhibited their designs 2008's show. The designs were on lighting and home accessories, toys and child wear other than fashion and accessories.
The show included mostly young or amateurs but a British designer attracted my attention; Sasha Gabbé. She inspired by vegetables (pumpkins esp.) found in the Turkish shops near where she lives- North London. The pumpkins transformed into ceramic bowls and watermelons into lights... Click for more information about Sasha Gabbé.

I really liked the college students' designs.
Next show will be on 4-7 December 2009 at Shoreditch Town Hall. Click here to be a participant in 2009.
