The future of online advertising?

Probably you have already heard that the future of online advertising will be much more different from that we know now. Online applications are more effective than advertising, internet is something that we can touch with the launch of iPad...
Ashley Friedlein (CEO and co-founder of Econsultancy) will make a speech about that subject at TFM&A 2010. Ah the title is "The future of online marketing is... offline." I will definitely be there, join me at Earl's Court if you are interested as well! Click for free registration. Date: 23-24 February 2010 @ Earls Court 2, London

Be there if you're into marketing or/& advertising!

Ogilvy Idea Shop, London

When u're in advertising; normally you are expected to know what your clients' customers are up to... But since u work for very long hours, it is not really possible to observe or interact with real people... (Not youtube, facebook, twitter, blip, bebo, etc... interaction)
Ogilvy at that point, created a great project; Ogilvy IDEA SHOP !
Ogilvy started a brand new concept to interact with "real" people in "real" places; pop-up idea shop. The first one is in Brixton Village Market, London;
If you have a small business, but do not know how to attract more visitors/customers, how to get a new direction to solve your problems... Any marketing, advertising, brand consultancy, they give for free! It will last only 3 days in Brixton, and we shall follow Ogilvy for next event! Great people, great ideas, great free talks (from digital creative head of Ogilvy for example) and a great blog...
If I were an advertiser; frankly, that would definitely affect my choice of agency!

Sounds Like Teen Spirit; A Really Feel Good Movie!

I didn't know what to expect from the film when I was invited by Time Out London (Yeah I did it, I won a ticket for the first time!!!)
The synopsis was not saying much, it's a popumentary, a movie about junior Eurovision??? Whatever, I've just went to Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Palace. The movie started and it was like silence cut in by laughter. The film was directed by Jamie Jay Johnson, frankly I didn't know him before. But I can definitely say that I am glad to know his name and definitely follow his coming movies in the future!

In a nut shell the film was focusing on 4 contestants in 2007 and it was really a feel good movie! You have the same feeling of Slumdog Millionaire but definitely more fun!

You can find the trailer below. The film is coming across the cinemas on 8 May. Do not miss it!!!

Occupying Spaces: The White Dress Project

The project is devised by MA Fashion Curation students of London College of Fashion and directed by Amy de la Haye and Judith Clark. A perfect place for a fashion exhibition, the project can be seen at Carnaby's Broadwick Street.
The exhibition features a various number of identical white dresses in a series of both conventional and unusual ways. The trick is that all dresses are interacting with the gallery space. And the best part is you can also design your own white dress and hang it on the wall. Isn't it great to become a part of an exhibition, not so common, aye?
You can also write your comments on this white dress...

The Project runs seven days a week until 23rd April between 11am - 7pm (Sundays close at 5pm and Thursday open until 8pm) at 65 – 67 Broadwick Street, London W1.

At last the expected G-20 summit finally starting tomorrow. We've read lots of news but the protesters were another thing... Here comes the photos (not Obama's, we had plenty of them I guess...)

We Won't Pay For Their Crisis"

A Tiny Bird :), and a guerrilla marketing activity of bragster.com (a web site from east London)

Tina Turner, Live, Seriously

She's 70 but still younger than me and 99% of the audience at the concert at the O2 arena. No surprise she has been called the most successful female rock artist ever with record sales nearly 200 million copies worldwide, with this energetic stage performance.

It's a must go show before you die.

The Modern Face of the White City; Westfield London

Shepherd’s Bush was known with its market, White City, historical background and the cosmopolitan inhabitants until the opening of Westfield London. The shopping center cost for 1,7 billion pounds and changed the face of the surrounding when opened. And the mall is the largest urban area indoor shopping centre in Europe.

Some of the Westfield’s stores are; Miu Miu, Dior, Prada, Apple, All Saints, Fred Perry, Henley’s, Armani Exchange, Hugo Boss, Ugg, Tiffany & Co, De Beers, Carat...

And some Turkish stylish brands Machka (one of my favorites), Ipekyol and Desa.

Being in this big shopping center, in a historic, street living culture and arts city made me feel that I am living in the animation movie Wall-E. (minimum energy, maximum consumption)
We cant know Westfield’s effects on the traditional texture of the city, but the center is really vivid in spite of the credit crunch with people at the champagne bar, and people with UGG shopping bags...

Take the District Line and use the Shepherd's Bush's Westfield exit for the center.

White Lies Gig @ HMV

The gig of White Lies (was known as Fear of Flying) took place today at HMV, Oxford Street. I think that was time for me to listen to a new rock bank... And here they are!

McVeigh the singer has a great voice

The lyrics of their song Unfinished Business will give you the idea of how they sound :)

JUST GIVE ME A SECOND, DARLING,
TO CLEAR MY HEAD.
JUST PUT DOWN THOSE SCISSORS, BABY,
ON THIS SINGLE BED.
THE SAND IN THE HOURGLASS IS RUNNING LOW.
I CAME THROUGH THUNDER THE COLD WIND,
THE RAIN AND THE SNOW.
TO FIND YOU AWAKE,
BY YOUR WINDOWSILL;
A SIGHT FOR SOAR EYES AND WITH A VIEW TO KILL...

I BROKE DOWN IN HORROR AT YOU STANDING THERE.
THE GLOW FROM THE MOON SHONE
THROUGH CRACKS IN YOUR HAIR.
I SHOUTED WITH PASSION; "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH".
BUT FEELING MY SKIN IT WAS COLD TO THE TOUCH.
YOU WHISPERED "WHERE ARE YOU?".
I QUESTIONED YOUR DOUBT.
BUT SOON REALISED,
YOU'RE TALKING TO GOD NOW.

YOU'VE GOT BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS.
AND I KNOW IT'S MINE.
I JUST NEED MORE TIME.
SO GET OFF YOUR LOW AND LETS DANCE LIKE WE USED TO.
BUT THERE'S A LIGHT IN THE DISTANCE,
WAITING FOR ME.
I WILL WAIT FOR YOU.
SO GET OFF YOUR LOW AND LETS KISS LIKE WE USED TO.

I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR BUT SOMETHING WAS WRONG.
I SAW YOU BEHIND, BUT MY REFLECTION WAS GONE.
THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE FIREPLACE,
AS WHITE AS THE SNOW.
A VOICE BECKONED GENTLY;
"NOW IT'S TIME TO GO".
A REQUIEM PLAYED AS YOU BEGGED FOR FORGIVNESS.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" I SCREAMED,
"I'VE GOT UNFINISHED BUSINESS!".

Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms

I newer know what to feel about Andy Warhol. Therefore I decided to face my feelings about him and pop out to his exhibition. All story was there, his childhood and his family, how he was shot, how was the life in 'factory', how they draw pictures, how he and Edie Sedgewick spent their time, his TV shows, and his famous Marilyn Monroe works, and his big statements of course... The exhibition is open till 18 January 2009 at Hayword Gallery, Southbank. Admission: 10 pounds.
Now I have more complicated feelings about him.

East London Design Show

This year ELDS had an international participation. Designers from Mexico to Moscow, exhibited their designs 2008's show. The designs were on lighting and home accessories, toys and child wear other than fashion and accessories.
The show included mostly young or amateurs but a British designer attracted my attention; Sasha Gabbé. She inspired by vegetables (pumpkins esp.) found in the Turkish shops near where she lives- North London. The pumpkins transformed into ceramic bowls and watermelons into lights... Click for more information about Sasha Gabbé.

I really liked the college students' designs.
Next show will be on 4-7 December 2009 at Shoreditch Town Hall. Click here to be a participant in 2009.
